What is this apps about?

Ideafest is the biggest creative festival in Indonesia where disruptive and trendsetting individuals share, discuss, and provoke fresh and insightful ideas. In its tenth anniversary, Ideafest is set to become a creative hub where all stakeholders in the creative industry gather to grow budding talents and build an ecosystem that could weather whatever the future might bring.

Brief & Research

To start the project, I first talked to stakeholders from the Ideafest teams to understand their expectations and the targeted users. I was informed that the user flows I need to focus on. The targeted audience of their conference events, who will be interested in exploring the stage and come to ideafest for networking

Motivation

The motivation of the visitors from ideafest is to do networking. they feel that Ideafest is a moment where they can find a network that suits their interests and allows them to expand their network for both business and career.

Pain Points

Pain points ideafest visitors are a reminder of their schedule. they like to forget and do not remember the existing schedules. plus the capabilities of each stage are full so quickly that they still like to miss the material or speakers they really want to watch

Expectations

sticky men ideafest-03.png

Visitors from ideafest want ease of access, even to the point of how they can get acquainted directly in the ideafest area so as to make their conference experience more enjoyable

Competitive Analysis

The discussion with stakeholders (Ideafest Team) also helped me identify our competitors or inspirations, which have a similar conference experience with Ideafest. I analyzed their mobile apps experiences from connecting the audience, schedules, QR scanning and Chat page.

I also did a competitive analysis. First we evaluate the competitive analysis from sxsw:

Pro:
Sxsw has a good interface and features for visibility in each segment of the event which is quite complete

Cons:
there is no feature to exchange tickets or directly related to the event
features about networking also tend to be confusing and also not easy to use

The second competitive analysis I use is an application from websummit

pro:
This application is quite complete and very in line with the needs of the Ideafest audience.
One of the advantages of this application is that maps are very complete and also very personal notifications according to the needs of the audience

cons:
the absence of a pattern to explore more deeply and also company data which tends to be less in-depth gives this application still not enough for the main goals of the ideafest apps

Point Of View Methods

With this information, I had a few whiteboard sessions with the team to imagine the whole architecture of the product. I wanted to make sure it was scalable enough to add new features we had in the pipeline with our stakeholders.

Badges Exchange || Pass

we are working with the operational team from loket.com to calculate how long it will take to exchange badges / ideafest entrance tickets. that's why we moved the process of submitting data and also collecting badges in the ideafest application

Schedule Control

10 Ideafest visitors we interviewed, including Direct Messages that entered Ideafest's Instagram social media. we found that almost 70% of visitors missed the desired seminar because they forgot the schedule. Therefore, one of the key features of ideafest apps is my schedule. where visitors can set the schedule they want and set their reminders for the seminar they want to attend.

Set the Schedule flow

I designed a simple schedule flow where I also placed it at the top of the banner and it was updated according to the order of the closest schedule at that time

Networking based on interest

we design the homepage of ideafest apps. according to the spirit of the festival itself, networking and community are one of the advantages of this application. where visitors can network according to their interests and can also immediately make an appointment to meet at the conference

Visibility pax per stages

some special stages from ideafest itself, have a booking system which means that visitors must reserve seats in advance. We designed the ideafest application to show the remaining seats on a stage. by cooperating with a counter system that is directly connected to the officer guarding the entrance

Usability Testing

Task 01:

Do networking in discover page with Ideafest apps

Task 02:

Task 03:

Result

stakeholders from Ideafest are satisfied with the results and apps are running to help around 15,000 more visitors from ideafest in fulfilling their conference experience

Things need to Improve

some users find it difficult to access the app in the venue area. therefore it is necessary to prepare an internet connection with a third party at the next ideafest

the workshop list still needs to be improved, especially in the categorization section which is implemented in the User Interface section to make it easier for content parties if an error occurs in the input
